Whoopi Goldberg has attempted to lasso fan expectations when it comes to Beyoncé's country music crossover, as The View moderator and EGOT-winning actress said she doesn't feel the CMA Awards snubbed the former Destiny's Child superstar when it bestowed her Cowboy Carter album with zero nominations earlier this week.

"I don't think she was snubbed, I think they just didn't...it wasn't for them," Goldberg, 68, said on "The View." She insinuated that she wasn't really shocked by Beyonce's zero nomination at the Country Music Association Awards. "Well, this is the question: Are you surprised?" she fired off the rhetorical question.
Legal expert Sunny Hostin found it especially baffling that Beyonce's "Jolene" cover failed to get any nomination, given Dolly Parton's high praise. "I felt that when the Queen of Country sort of passed the baton a little bit for 'Jolene,' which was an incredible song on her album, and 'Texas Hold 'Em,' two incredible country songs, I thought she would at least get nominated for those two," she said.
She ultimately shared an advice from her mom, "My mother always told me, 'Find the audience that's looking for you.' This audience isn't looking for her."
Conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin argued that the audience does love Queen Bey, citing the album's success on the charts. "The Country Billboard charts do not lie," she noted while co-host Sara Haines believed there were "always some politics involved."
Despite the CMA snub and country radio stations initially refusing to play the song due to Beyonce's non-country roots, "Cowboy Carter" debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and its lead single, "Texas Hold 'Em," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Whoopi is correct. We need to stop always wanting to win over those who don't see it for us, and find our own tribe.
As long as Bey has started a conversation regarding black musicians placement in the Country music space, and has a fan base that loves what she does, that's all that matters.
