One of my favorite 90s alternative rock bands Garbage is back, and they’ve released the visual for No Gods No Masters, the title track from their forthcoming seventh album.
NGNM is the second single to be released off the new record, with The Men Who Rule The World being released last month.
Speaking about the synth-infused track, frontwoman Shirley Manson explained that it’s about “re-imagining our society for the future, for our children and not making the same mistakes over and over again and allowing greed to corrupt our thinking”.
“I tried to make sense of the world. I was trying to make sense of left and right, literally,” she said. “Like why do some people vote right? Why do some people vote left? And all of that comes from a concern for ourselves, for our friends, for our families, ultimately, for our babies…”
Manson said of the album: “It was our way of trying to make sense of how fucking nuts the world is and the astounding chaos we find ourselves in. It’s the record we felt that we had to make at this time.”
No Gods No Masters will be released via the band’s own label Stunvolume on June 11, 2021.
