Trans performance artist and producer Arca has dropped the visual for her brand new track called Incendio, which she also directed.
According to Hypebeast, the music video is tied into Arca’s Mutant;Destrudo residency at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, where the artist took over the space for four evenings of performances, wrapping up with the final show on October 15. Going above and beyond the typical concert performance, the show was conceptual, layered and full of complex visual elements and infrastructure.
For the show, she collaborated with Japanese artist Daito Manabe and together, they created a custom device that converts electricity signals into music. This process is previewed in the video, showing Arca with wires attached to her head, the recipient of the electrical currents.
“Through myoelectric sensors attached to Arca’s face, we can use technology to intricately, and at times violently, control and transform her expressions,” Manabe said.
