Valentina Departs Drag Race Mexico After One Season

Drag Race Mexico is set to launch their second season soon, and it looks like there's been a change in one of the co-hosts.

The WOW Presents Plus series and RuPaul’s Drag Race spinoff set in Mexico will once again see two queens helming the upcoming second season, but season one co-host Valentina is not returning.

Drag Race France alum Lolita Banana will return as co-host and will be joined by Queen of the Universe season two winner Taiga Braga!

The two entertainers will be joined on the judges panel by returning judge Oscar Madrazo.

“Thank you Valentina for sharing your talents in the remarkable, record-setting inaugural season of Drag Race México – your impact will be everlasting on our show and we couldn’t be more grateful,” executive producers and WOW Presents Plus co-founders Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato shared in a statement. “We are so excited to now welcome Taiga Braga as co-host. We knew she was destined for big things the second we saw her sashay onto the Queen of the Universe stage.”

Following her exit, Valentina shared, “It was a great honor to serve as a host for the inaugural season of Drag Race Mexico. Thank you to my World of Wonder family for making this dream come true of bringing Drag Race to Mexico. Also, thank you to my dear fans for all your support. l wish all the best to the new host, I will be tuning in! Love, Valentina ”

Drag Race Mexico season two will see “drag queens from all over Mexico will compete in challenges involving acting, fashion, comedy and more in hopes of becoming the next drag superstar and winning the grand cash prize. The queens competing and the exciting line-up of special celebrity guest judges for the new season will be revealed in the coming weeks.”

No word on why Valentina was replaced, but according to a thread on Reddit, supposedly in her negotiations with WOW, asked for a salary per episode equivalent to that of Michelle Visage (girl...🙄). The show's producers, obviously, refused and miss thing is not going to return as host.

Not only was her Spanish a bit shaky, but it seemed that her only concern was to look pretty and show off. Fans feel she never showed empathy or interest in the contestants. Furthermore, she does not have the stage presence or charisma that's needed to co-headline a reality competition series.

She can always work on it and come back in a few years. Or try out for a future season of All Stars. However if she to be at the level of Michelle Visage, she has a long way to go, and needs to put in the work.
