Trump Supporters Are Being Outed As “DL trade” On Social Media

As the saying goes, "revenge is a dish served cold," and after Donald Trump's win as the 47th president of the United States over VP presidential nominee Kamala Harris, the gays are serving up their undercover trade on a silver platter.

The trend seemingly began on election day, when influencer Edgar Mariscal shared a post reading, “If your DL trade is voting for Trump you have the right to out them.” For the uninitiated, “DL trade” (in its modern, not-so-historical usage) refers to masculine, closeted men who secretly hook up with queer folks.

Who’s to say if Mariscal was serious or not, but after Trump’s victory, several queer folks are taking his post literally. Social media user Ky Gann reposted Mariscal’s post to their Instagram story, then shared a video of them in the car with another man, along with the caption, “since we outting dl trade…”

Gann followed it up with a screenshot of their DMs, presumably with that man, writing, “Even if your republican friends don’t know about the closet you hide in and give you a seat at the table, deep down you will always carry the weight of the mask you hide behind and internal fear that comes with wearing one.”

“These people shouldn’t get to enjoy our company and our spaces and then actively vote against us, our freedoms, and rights to have the same spaces u were having a ki at.”

Others also said they were taking Mariscal’s advice, though they didn’t come with the same degree of receipts.

Of course, outing is morally questionable, no matter who’s the victim of it. Still, folks across the internet couldn’t help but take pleasure in the trend of watching the gays for Trump learn their choices have consequences — especially when they’re being made from the closet.

Mariscal, for his part, shared a few more posts: one expressing his amazement at “starting a revolution,” and another sharing his true motivations for starting the trend: “Me making everyone cut off their DL men so there’s more for me.”

Normally I'm against people outing others. However, if you are secretly sleeping with someone of the same gender, but going to the ballot box to vote for someone who is against the queer community, then your private tea needs to be spilled with no effs given.
