Jessica Chastain leads an all-star cast of women in the upcoming film The 355, where she plays an American spy leading an elite group of female secret agents from around the world as they come together to stop an organization from launching a nefarious plan that would cause global disruption.
The trailer, set to a haunting version of Jay Z and Rihanna’s “Run This Town,” introduces Chastain’s cohorts: Lupita Nyong’o as a British operative and computer expert; Penélope Cruz as a Colombian spy; Bingbing Fan as a Chinese agent, and Diane Kruger as a German envoy.
Chastain, who executive produces the film says she came up with the idea for 355 back when she was shooting X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The script was written by Theresa Rebeck (Smash).
I’m a sucker for movies where women are kicking ass and taking names, without the help of a man at their side. Actually, tone-wise, 355 looks like the film the recent Charlie’s Angels reboot should have been.
