After receiving news earlier this week that both Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane will be appearing in the Ballerina spinoff, we finally got ourselves a brand new trailer for John Wick Chapter 4, and based on what's shown in the two and a half minute trailer it's an action movie lover's wet dream.
In the new trailer, Wick must challenge Bill Skarsgård’s chilling villain, the Marquis de Gramont, to single combat in order to win his freedom. Wick prepares for the showdown like it’s his last-ever fight, complete with a brand new suit and guns — a whole lot of them. We then see Wick do what he does best: killing people in flashy, jaw-dropping ways. The trailer shows him riding a horse in the desert while shooting at people, bashing a man’s head with nunchucks repeatedly, hacking a man apart with an axe in a nightclub and engaging in a close-quarters, gun-and-sword fight with Donnie Yen’s character.
In addition to Reeves, “John Wick: Chapter 4” stars Skarsgård, Yen, Laurence Fishburne, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama, Shamier Anderson, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins and Clancy Brown. McShane reprises his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel.
While the first three chapters focused on John Wick seeking vengeance, which in return saw him facing repercussion's for his choices, director Chad Stahelski, who has collaborated with Reeves on all four films, said that the upcoming film will dive deeper into the mythology behind the Continental and the High Table.
“I love a good myth,” Stahelski explained to Variety. “I don’t really believe — at least for the ‘John Wick’ movies — in a three-act structure. I believe in storytelling and leaving it. You know, we’ve always seen John Wick as Odysseus. So we take the time we need to tell the story. As long as we don’t fall asleep watching it, we keep it going. But I guess there is a bathroom limit.”
