TRAILER TRASH: CHUCKY (TV Series)

Usually when a beloved film or film franchise is developed into a TV series for basic cable, I have my reservations because at times cable and network television are restricted by certain “guidelines.”

Well it looks like those guidelines have been tossed out of the window after watching the trailer for Chucky, which isn’t shying away from all the blood and gore we’ve come to expect from the hit franchise.

The series, which is set to premiere on USA and SyFy on October 12, will center on Jake Weber (Zachary Arthur), a 14-year-old gay boy struggling to come out of the closet in his rural town. An avid artist and doll enthusiast, Jake discovers a mysterious vintage Chucky doll at a yard sale. Of course, the doll in question turns out to be cursed with the soul of serial killer Charles Lee Ray (Brad Dourif, reprising his role as the voice of the iconic serial killer), which brings death and destruction to Jake’s life. But is that always a bad thing?

Also appearing on the series is Devon Sawa (Final Destination), Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, and Christine Elise as Kyle.
