TLC BIOGRAPHY HEADING TO A&E

One of the biggest girl groups of all time TLC is set to get the Biography treatment courtesy of A&E. The network is set to spill the tea on the group’s rise to fame from the words of it’s living members T-Boz and Chilli.

Oscar-and Emmy-winning director Roger Ross Williams and Emmy-winning producer Geoff Martz will executive produce the two hour episode.

Here’s what Williams said in a press statement:

“As someone who has long been in awe of TLC and their musical and cultural impact, I am thrilled to be a part of bringing the story of their music, their journey, and their continuing reverence to the screen. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with A&E, as well as filmmaker Matthew Kay, to bring this film to life. We hope this film illuminates a side of this incredible group and Tionne ‘T-Boz’ Watkins, Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes, and Rozonda ‘Chilli’ Thomas that longtime fans and viewers alike have not seen before.”

Elaine Frontain Bryant, head of programming at A&E Network, said the following in another statement:

“‘The Biography’ banner has always focused on telling the stories of remarkable people who have had a major impact on our collective culture. As a revolutionary group that broke boundaries and influenced an entire generation, TLC falls directly into that category and we are honored to tell their incredible story as it has never been told before.”

This is exciting news, especially since I grew up listening to TLC’s music. I’ve seen countless interviews, the reality competition show Are You The Girl, the Behind The Music special and VH1 biopic.

I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this episode of Biography when it drops in 2021.
