Tina Knowles Opens Up About Failed Second Marriage, Rumors of Beyoncé Faking Pregnancy

More juicy tea is being poured via the press tour Tina Knowles is currently on promoting her new memoir Matriarch.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Tina reflected on that time when rumors were swirling that her daughter Beyonce was walking around with a fake baby bump, saying,

“It was one of the hardest times of my life, when they started the rumor that Bey wasn’t really pregnant.”

She shared that Beyoncé had suffered miscarriages before finally reaching a safe trimester in her pregnancy with Blue. Then, just as things were moving forward, the fake baby bump rumors took off on social media.

“For someone to start that rumor… I wanted to go off on people, I wanted to set the record straight… and she [Beyoncé] would not allow me to talk.”

In a separate interview with Oprah, Tina reflected on an excerpt from her newly released memoir Matriarch, where she recalls the support she received from her friend Tyler Perry when she made the difficult decision to part ways from her marriage to Richard Lawson, 78.

Tina and Richard, who had been longtime friends, tied the knot in 2015 and divorced after 8 years of marriage in 2023.

“I told [Tyler] what happened, and he loves Richard also. He said, ‘I’m very sad to hear that,’ but you know, this marriage isn’t bringing out the best in me.”

She continued:

“I have finally found my worth, and I know that I deserve to be happy. I know I deserve for somebody to be happy when they see me and to celebrate me. And it’s not doing it for me. It’s bringing out the worst in me, and it’s gotta stop.”

Tina went on to share that Perry, who had tears in his eyes, showed unwavering support for her decision to choose her own happiness. He also praised her for setting a powerful example not only for her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, but also for her grandson Julez, so he can learn how to value and respect women.
