Netflix has ordered an eight-episode season based around beloved character Wednesday Addams.
The series, entitled Wednesday will follow the sassy character’s coming of age, and is described as “a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy.” It’s said to follow…
“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.
The series is being developed by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, Into The Badlands)with Tim Burton directing.
My favorite portrayal of Wednesday will always be Christina Ricci, and while I a solo series with Wednesday as a central character never crossed my mind, I think if it takes a dark and twisted approach a la Sabrina, I’m sure this series will go over well with Netflix viewers, especially the gays.
