The Hot Topics table will extend its reach to Saturdays and Sundays, as the ABC daytime talk show announced Wednesday that it will now air seven days a week thanks to its new The Weekend View streaming series.
The show's Friday panel — including Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin — will host the new 30-minute weekend edition of The View on the network's ABC News Live streaming platform, with moderator Whoopi Goldberg sitting out for the spinoff program as she typically has Fridays off.
Haines announced the news on Wednesday's episode of The View, noting that The Weekend View will debut on Saturday and Sunday mornings beginning this week.
The Weekend View will be produced by the same Emmy-winning team that handles the main series, and will center on headlines from entertainment and buzzy topics from social media, versus The View's political-leaning content. Segments from producer Brian Teta's Behind The Table podcast will also air throughout the episodes.
“In addition to having its most-watched linear season in four years, The View is finding success meeting viewers wherever they get their content, from podcasts to YouTube, and now with new exclusive streaming content for the weekend on ABC News Live," Teta said in a press statement, while fellow producer Robin Hommel added, “The Weekend View will feature more of the ‘Hot Topics’ our audiences can’t get enough of, delivering original content for the weekend with a focus on what’s trending."
The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on ABC. The Weekend View premieres this Saturday, with new episodes streaming weekly at 7:30 a.m. ET on Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. ET on Sundays, and will be accessible via ABC News Live, Disney+, Hulu, YouTube, ABCNews.com, and the ABC News app.
