A24 has dropped the first trailer for The Front Room, which stars Brandy in her return to the horror genre.
Written and directed by Max Eggers and Sam Eggers, who have worked with their older brother Robert Eggers on his films The Lighthouse and The Witch, the cast also includes Andrew Burnap, Neal Huff and Kathryn Hunter. The studio describes it as a “legendary face-off” between Brandy and Hunter, who plays “the wickedest mother-in-law of them all.” The film hits theaters on Sept. 6.
Here’s the logline:
Everything goes to hell for newly-pregnant Belinda (Brandy) after her mother-in-law (Hunter) moves in. As the diabolical guest tries to get her claws on the child, Belinda must draw the line somewhere…
Upon her casting in “The Front Room,” Norwood took to Instagram and wrote to her followers “[I] can’t wait for ya’ll to see this. God you’re Awesome!!!! I trust you with my entire life. Thank you for this amazing opportunity to work with this unbelievable cast, crew, and the studio everyone wants to work with and of course my Eggers fam.”
While I love that Brandy has partaken in family friendly films such as Cinderella, Best Christmas Ever and Double Platinum throughout her career, it's great so see her return to horror.
Fingers cross she will reprise her role as Karla in the upcoming requel to I Know What You Did Last Summer alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
