On Friday Canadian pop star Tate McCrae, who is clearly channeling late 90's early 2000s TRL era Britney Spears/Nelly Furtado/Xtina with her third album So Close To What, may finally have a hit on her hands based on album sale predictions.
According to Hits Daily Double, ‘So Close To What’ is pacing towards a top 5 debut on the Billboard 200 with opening sales of:
110,000-125,000

Should the sum hold, it will function as McRae’s biggest-selling launch to-date, almost doubling the 66,000 opening of 2023’s ‘Think Later.’
In the past her label was trying to mold her into this moody, Billie Eilish/Lorde-esque performer, because that was the popular sound at the time. But whoever on her team realized that they need to focus on her strengths as a dancer/performer once her song Greedy became a huge hit, they deserve a raise.
In addition to Sports Car, 2 Hands and It's Ok, I'm Ok, my favorite cuts off the album are Miss Possessive, I Know Love feat. The Kid LAROI, Dear God, Revolving Door and bloodonmyhands feat. Flo Milli.
