Her first-run syndicated talker strip “Sherri” has been officially renewed for a third season via Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury. The pickup comes as station groups including Nexstar, Sinclair, Hearst, Gray and Scripps renew the show (clearing it in more than 95% of the country), which had previously been ordered through the 2024-2025 TV season by the Fox Television Stations group.

According to Debmar-Mercury, the news comes as “Sherri” ranks second in women 25-54 this season among all syndicated talk shows. “Sherri” launched in September 2022, filling the void left when Debmar-Mercury ended production on “The Wendy Williams Show.”

In its first season, “Sherri” scored four Daytime Emmy nominations, including outstanding entertainment talk show host for Shepherd. The show also won an NAACP Image Award for outstanding talk series in 2023; “Sherri” has received five NAACP Image Award nominations, including most recently a win for outstanding host in a talk or news/information series or special.

“I’m so excited to continue bringing joy, laughter and inspiration to our viewers,” Shepherd said in a statement. “I don’t take it for granted that people welcome me into their homes daily and that’s why I greet them with, ‘Hey Family!’ Thank you to Debmar Mercury, the Fox Television Stations and all of the broadcast partners who continue to support and trust in my vision of bringing fun and comedy to daytime. And as we enter season three, continue to expect the unexpected.”

“Sherri” is taped live at New York City’s Chelsea Studios, with Fernita Wynn serving as executive producer and showrunner. Shepherd and producing partner Jawn Murray are also EPs, along with Joelle Dawson-Calia. Siobhan Schanda and Dan Fitzpatrick are co-executive producers.

“We thank our great station partners for continuing to make Sherri the centerpiece of their daytime lineups,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a joint statement. “These renewals are a tremendous tribute to Sherri and the show’s outstanding production team, who after less than two full seasons have made this show into a popular daytime staple with viewers, stations and advertisers.”
