Days after Bad Bunny sent the internet into a collective thirst frenzy when he shared images to Instagram of him sporting Calvin Klein underwear as part of a new ad campaign for the brand, the Canadian pop star slid into the comments section to show his approval.
"Guapo," Mendes wrote under the Puerto Rican rapper's photos, using the Spanish word for "handsome."
Mendes' comment is on the tamer side of the internet's reactions to the shoot. Others — including RuPaul's Drag Race season 12 queen Dahlia Sin, who simply wrote "choke me" — were a bit more explicit.
As of Friday, Bad Bunny's post has been liked 4.4 million times on the social media site, with the official MTV Instagram account also commenting, "I tapped way more than twice."
Mendes' comment on Bad Bunny's photo comes after the former's highly publicized relationships with fellow pop stars Camila Cabello (who also appeared on the aforementioned "Señorita") and Sabrina Carpenter. In October, he addressed his audience during a performance at Colorado's Red Rocks Ampitheatre, telling them that he's on a journey to figure out his sexuality.
"There's just been this thing about my sexuality and people talking about it for so long," Mendes said at the time. "I think it's kind of silly because I think sexuality is such a beautifully complex thing, and it's so hard to just put into boxes."
He continued, "It always felt like such an intrusion on something very personal to me, something that I was figuring out in myself, something I had yet to discover and still have yet to discover."
After the flurry of speculation, Shawn's cheeky new comment on Bunny's ad has sent fans flocking to social media to share their tongue-wagging reactions.
'He ain't beating them allegations anytime soon,' joked one observer on X, while another joked that 'broski had to show love before Camila did.'
'I know he was panicking before hitting send,' quipped a third as a fourth giggled that 'they will be in each others room soon.'
Another sneered that Shawn 'want that cookie so bad got him speaking spanish,' and still another wrote: 'and now i have to pick up my fanfic pen again.'
'One word, infinite meaning. Respect,' a viewer wrote, as another drooled: 'I ship it,' and yet another chuckled: 'Shawn has good taste.'
In a sly jab at the 2023 dating rumors about Shawn and Sabrina Carpenter, another X user joked that 'Sabrina is crying in the corner.'
Mendes and Bad Bunny have both released new material in recent months, with Mendes' Shawn album hitting No. 26 on the Billboard 200 albums charts in November, and Bad Bunny's Debí Tirar Más Fotos debuting at the top of the charts in January.
