After the huge success of 5cream in theaters, it shouldn’t be a surprise to absolutely no one that Paramount and Spyglass have given the green light to a sixth Scream film.
While there’s no word on the film’s plot, here’s what we do know…
We know that Courtneney Cox will be reprising her role as Gale Weathers, Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett are returning to direct the franchise’s next installment, and James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick are also back to write the script.
It was also announced days ago that Scream 6 (rumored to be called Scream 2) will be released theatrically on March 31, 2023.
There’s no word on if Neve Campbell will return for a sixth time to play Sidney Prescott, but she did say that she was approached about Scream 6.
If Neve does come back, I hope they give her more to do than to show up in the third act, and that’s only because a certain main staple in the franchise was killed off.
Scream 2022 is currently streaming on Paramount+.
