Russell Wilson‘s latest season with the Denver Broncos may not have gone the way he and the team hoped, but life is good nonetheless. The 35-year-old quarterback discussed his marriage with Ciara and raising their children together, calling the experience a “gift.”

The Super Bowl champion joined I Am Athlete on Monday (Feb. 26) and spoke about his mindset going into his relationship with the “One, Two Step” singer. “Right before I met [Ciara], I wrote out my five non-negotiables,” he said, outlining how he wanted a woman who had a relationship with God, was independent and would care for him the way his mother cared for his father while he was on his deathbed.

“And so I prayed about that […] I wrote it out actually on a napkin at dinner,” he said. “Three days later I meet [Ciara]. When I walked in the room and saw little Future, who was 9 months at the time, and he crawls in my lap […] it was like, ‘This is going to be my responsibility.’”

I know some people have a problem with Russell speaking out on how hands on he's been with little Future. Some people (probably the same ones that call Russell a SIMP) feel that he's taking a jab at Future the artist by speaking out. However if daddy #1 was doing his part as little Future's daddy, the step daddy wouldn't need to speak about his stepson.

At the end of the day kids just want someone there to love them unconditionally so there's nothing corny about Russell. In fact men should aspire to be more like Russell.
