Ok queens, start your locomotora’s, because RuPaul’s Drag Race is about to invade yet another country.
Word on the street is that Drag Race is about to invade Spain. The series, Drag Race Espania, will follow Spain’s fiercest queens as they vie to become the next drag superstar. The series will air on ATRESplayer PREMIUM in Spain, but if you want to watch it in the US and beyond, you’ll be able to watch it on WOW Presents Plus.
“It is such an honor to welcome Spain to the Drag Race family, partner with Atres, and bring the fierce fabulous glamour of Spanish queens to new audiences around the world on WOW Presents Plus,” World of Wonder co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey said in a statement. “In these dark and challenging times we believe people need Drag Race‘s joy, laughter, and heart now more than ever.”
Drag Race Espania joins a laundry list of universal versions of the show in Thailand, Chile, Canada, and Holland, as well as RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, which has been renewed for a second and third season. Australia is also getting a version of Drag Race.
I just hope they choose a popular drag queen/personality to host the Spain version, and please don’t follow the host-less idea they did with Canada. Having celebrities coming on to host just did not work for me.
