Rumor Mill: Scream 8 Already In Development

Updated: 6 hours ago

So rumor has it (according to industry insider Daniel RPK) that Scream 8 is already in development via Paramount and Spyglass, even though Scream 7 hasn't begun shooting yet.

Personally speaking, as a OG Scream fan, and a lover of the Sidney Prescott character, if this turns out to be true, can we at least wait until we see how Scream 7 does at the box office before we start greenlighting more sequels or a potential trilogy?

On the other hand I believe that Scream creator Kevin Williamson had an idea for a trilogy eons ago, and now that he's directing the seventh installment maybe his idea will now become a reality.

No official plot details have been revealed about Scream 7, but what we do know is who has signed on to appear in the next installment of the slasher franchise.

In addition to our veteran final girl Neve Campbell, we have returning actors Courteney Cox and Mason Gooding (Scream 5 & 6), with Cox making history as the longest surviving cast member to appear in all seven Scream films.

New additions to the cast include Mckenna Grace, Isabel May, Celeste O’Connor, Sam Rechner, and Asa Germann.

No word on if Jasmin Savoy-Brown, who played Gooding's twin sister Mindy Meeks-Martin, or Patrick Dempsey, who appeared in Scream 3 as Det. Mark Kinkaid, and now resides as Sidney's husband will sign on.

Directed by original Scream screenwriter Kevin WIlliamson, with a script written by Guy Busick, Scream 7 is set to slice and dice it's way into theaters on Feb. 27, 2026.
