In an Instagram post shared to her account on Tuesday, the 62-year-old comedian and actress acknowledged for the first time her daughter Chelsea O'Donnell's arrest last month.
O'Donnell adopted Chelsea, 27, with her first wife, Kelli Carpenter, and the mother–daughter duo have been estranged on and off throughout much of Kelli's teens and adulthood.
Chelsea was arrested for the third time in less than three months in connection with drug charges.
She was most recently arrested on November 18, following previous arrests on September 10 and October 11 in connection with allegations of drug-related offenses.
'so yes this is true — after being bailed out by her birth mother — chelsea was arrested again,' O'Donnell wrote on Instagram, referencing her ex Carpenter, whom she separated from in 2007.
The League Of Their Own star included the admission alongside a screenshot of an email requesting comment from a Fox News Digital writer.
O'Donnell went on to acknowledge that her daughter 'is facing many charges related to her drug addiction.'
'we all hope she is able to get the help she needs to turn her life around,' she wrote, adding the hashtags '#drug-addiction,' '#tragic,' '#sadness' and '#truth.'
O'Donnell didn't share if she had taken any recent steps to either bail out her daughter or to get enrolled in a drug abuse treatment program.
Chelsea previously complained to DailyMail.com that her mother was more interested in advocating for freedom for the Menendez brothers than getting her out of jail.
Shortly after posting her somber update, O'Donnell shared a closeup selfie of herself in which she beamed while wearing sunglasses.
Chelsea had been out on $4,000 bail (posted by her birth mother on November 13) at the time of her most recent arrest, Us Weekly reported Monday after reviewing court documents.
Authorities said in legal documents that Chelsea was arrested on November 18 in Niagara, Wisconsin, after a vehicle she was riding in had been pulled over by police over a loud exhaust system.
Police detected 'pick marks' synonymous with illegal drug abuse on Chelsea's face, and requested her to provide identification, which she didn't have on her, according to the legal docs.
Chelsea did submit to the officer her name and birthdate, the legal docs stated, after which the officer determined she was out on bond in connection with her prior two arrests.
Police then cleared the vehicle and implemented a K9 search, at which time it was determined there were narcotics in the vehicle, according to the legal docs. Naloxone, a medication to reverse opiate overdose was retrieved from the vehicle's trunk, police said.
Police searching Chelsea found a 'clear smoking device' hidden in her bra during a search of her person, according to legal docs, with residue on the pipe later testing positive for traces of methamphetamine.
Officials said in court docs that Chelsea had been 'argumentative' with officers who sought to search her and wound up handcuffed, later 'calming down and becoming cooperative,' at which point the handcuffs were taken off.
Authorities at the Marinette County Jail conducted a strip search on Chelsea in which 'officers found a prescription bottle in Chelsea’s vagina,' InTouch reported, citing court docs.
The bottle contained a mix of hydrocodone, lamotrigine and Alprazolam pills, legal docs stated; and a bag containing a 'crystal-like substance,' according to legal docs reviewed by Us Weekly.
Chelsea subsequently received five new charges, three of them felonies, including two counts of methamphetamine possession; and felony narcotic drug possession, per legal docs.
Chelsea was also charged with misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession and resisting an officer, legal docs stated.
Chelsea remains in custody after a hearing Monday, and is slated to report to court for a December 12 in the matter, Us Weekly reported.
Chelsea had been bailed out of jail by her birth mother Deanna Micoley — Rosie previously refused to bail her out — on November 13 after more than a month in custody following an arrest on child abuse and drug charges.
Conditional to her release, authorities stipulated Chelsea remain sober and not possess any drugs or alcohol, US Weekly reported last month after reviewing court docs.
Chelsea was arrested in Amberg, Wisconsin on September 10 after a search warrant was executed, and charged with felony child neglect, methamphetamine possession, THC possession and overseeing a place where drug trafficking was taking place.
Chelsea also faces misdemeanor charges of drug paraphernalia possession, disorderly conduct and having medication she didn't have a prescription for.
Chelsea was subsequently released from custody after a $2,000 bond was posted later on in September. She subsequently placed back into custody at the Oconto County Jail in Oconto, Wisconsin after an October 11 arrest in which she had a meth pipe on her.
Chelsea faced additional charges of felony bail jumping, meth possession and drug possession, in addition to misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia possession and resisting or obstructing an officer, the outlet reported.
Chelsea told Dailymail.com earlier this month that Rosie, 62, was taking a tough love approach to the legal situation with her.
'When I called Rosie to ask her to bail me out, she told me flat out, "You belong in there,"' Chelsea said November 4. 'She said, "I really can't help you get out of there; I don't want you to kill yourself. I don't want to be responsible for you killing yourself."'
Chelsea told Dailymail.com from the jailhouse she was upset that the Emmy-winning entertainer appeared to be more invested in the freedom of convicted killers Erik and Lyle Menendez than her own.
'My mother is more interested in getting the Menendez Brothers released from prison than getting me out,' Chelsea said. 'I have a drug problem. I need to go to rehab, but I never killed anyone like the Menendez brothers.'
Chelsea told Dailymail.com that the A League of Their Own star 'has turned her back on' her.
The American Gigolo star's rep told US Weekly of Chelsea Tuesday that their 'family hopes that she gets the help she needs.'
Rosie, a longtime critic of President-elect Donald Trump, is mother to five adopted children: son Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake, 24, Vivienne, 22, and Dakota, 11.
The L Word: Generation Q performer last month spoke candidly about Chelsea's ongoing drug and legal problems in an Instagram post, saying that the family was hopeful she could achieve sobriety moving forward.
'Sadly this is not new for our family - Chelsea has struggled with drug addiction for a decade - we r all hopeful she will find her way out of this deadly disease,' the Long Island, New York native said October 19 on Instagram.
Chelsea told Dailymail.com that she felt there was a chance she could 'end up in prison' due to the arrests, and wanted 'to spend time with' her four children if that was the case.
Chelsea added at the time, 'I'm trying to get bailed out of here.'
Under the terms of her former release, Chelsea was permitted to see her children with Vicki Bourassa as the court-appointed supervisor, The Blast reported Tuesday. (Vicki is the mother of Chelsea's ex Jacob Bourassa, the father of three of Chelsea's four kids.)
She was was ordered by the court to 'not possess/consume any illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia/controlled substances without a valid prescription,' according to legal papers reviewed by the outlet.
Chelsea is also mother to one-year-old son Atlas, whose father is her boyfriend Jacob Nelund.
