Singer-actors Brandy, Eve, and Naturi Naughton have begun shooting the pilot for the brand new ABC series Queens in Atlanta, and I have to say I am beyond over the moon with this news.
The pilot, features the aforementioned recording artists as well as Nadine Velasquez who were once part of the 90s hip hop group Nasty Bitches, who reunite in their 40s to recapture the fame and swagger of their heyday.
If the show is given the full season green light, I can see this series becoming the new Empire (minus the show hitting the ratings shitter after it’s sophomore season).
As I have stated I am here for this show, although I am a bit worried because it’s going to be on ABC. I can see a series like Queens faring better on a streaming service or basic cable.
Shows featuring POC on a major network always makes me nervous because these networks will throw us a bone, but won’t full take the time to fully support groundbreaking shows.
