Nicki Minaj thinks that Lil Wayne was the casualty in a "war of egos," after Kendrick Lamar was chosen as headliner of the Super Bowl LIX halftime performance.
As the 2025 NFL game will be held in New Orleans on Feb. 9, Weezy was a halftime performance hopeful, but expressed his "hurt" about the decision in an Instagram post on Friday (Sept. 13). Lil Wayne's peers, fans, and past collaborators like Birdman, Drake, and Juvenile also rallied behind him.
On Monday (Sept. 9), Minaj allegedly slammed Jay-Z on X, possibly thinking he was behind Kendrick Lamar's upcoming Super Bowl show since the set will be co-produced by Roc Nation. But beneath Wayne's video on Instagram, she extended support to him while continuing to throw shade at someone unspecified.
"This too, shall pass—but what you have done for the Hip Hop culture will remain," Minaj wrote. "It will stand the TEST of time. Many times our greatest & most dehumanizing TEST is just a way for God to get the glory."
She continued, "You were simply used in a war of egos. To ppl who are empty inside, all they have is temporary power. Now every day, these wicked ppl are spending money to circulate the worst of you."
"But the Lord will nullify each & every single attempt & not only will it return to sender, it will be replaced with the best of you. You are human. They are not & never will be perfect."
She concluded, "It will be their demise. The Lord has warned them time & time & time again. Their stone cold hearts believe they are above reproach but this time they’ll regret it."
