Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Nene Leakes sat down for an exclusive interview with Larry Reid Live, and the reality star touched on a plethora of topics, including the status of her relationship with past cast members, such as Kandi Burruss and Cynthia Bailey.
Even though we've seen Nene time and time again throw shade in Kandi's direction, from whining about her multiple spin-off's, to mocking the low ratings for The Old Lady Gang (which was picked up for a second season, BTW), she says she has no issues with the former Xscape singer.
In fact, she claims Kandi has a problem with her:
“Honestly, I don’t have an issue with Kandi. This is the God honest truth. I really feel she has an issue with me. I am an original housewife. I feel like that was an issue. I feel like I was noticed a lot. I don’t say this. People say when they think of the ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ they think of NeNe.”
She continued,
“If I saw her, I would speak to her. I just don’t think she likes my presence.”
Since Burruss joined RHOA in it's second season, she and Nene have always seemed to butt heads. As for her relationship with Cynthia, she said she texted her when she heard her son Brentt was in he hospital after having a seizure and a stroke, but their friendship has not recovered since their fallout a few seasons back.
As for her lawsuit against Bravo, which I assumed was over, she said:
“We still have some legal things.”
She added,
“Part of it was dropped for a purpose, for us to gointo [a] mediation.”
She also said she has tried to reach out to Bravo despite her lawsuit, but has heard nothing but crickets. She also revealed that she wasn't invited to Bravocon.
“It’s almost like a child being abused and I’m over here asking for help over and over, and nobody hears me. I’m asking and asking for help and nobody hears me. I feel like my hands were tied. I asked so many times for help. There were so many times, I asked for help, and I just couldn’t get it.”
Fans had mixed responses regarding Nene's statements about Kandi.
One person wrote in the comments, "I mean at this point KANDI is an OG also… so I highly doubt that's the reason - doesn't matter if u been on a show from the first episode - Kandi is the longest running cast member on the show. So how about Nene worry about tryna get back on the show, cause a lot of people miss her!!"
Defending Kandi, another user said, "Kandi came in thinking she and Nene would be friends. Nene always looked down on Kandi calling her hood and talking crazy to her. I love them both but Nene always remembers ppls reactions to her but not what she does to cause that reaction."
"Nene always low key hated the fact that Kandi never bowed down to her like everybody else. Kandi stood up to her and didn't back down. That's what that was. And when does Kandi speak on her these days," someone else opined. Echoing the sentiment, one other added, "Nene always talking about Kandi jealous or Kandi has an issue w Nene but when has Kandi ever started with Nene?"
Back in June, Kandi addressed her feud with NeNe in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "We don't talk. We don't have a good relationship in that sense," Kandi said at the time. "I don't know what the future would hold, but as of now, we don't have a good relationship, so we don't communicate."
"You can never say never, I would suppose, but as of now, we just aren't on the same page," she continued.
