Nelly Compares Backlash for Trump Inauguration Performance to Beyoncé's 'Cowboy Carter' Criticism

After sounding like boo boo the fool during his recent chat with Geto Boys' Willie D over why he chose to perform for Donald Trump at his Inauguration Ball, Nelly is continuing to double down on his decision after fierce public backlash.

The 'Ride With Me' rapper took his grift over to NewsNation, and continued to stick his foot further down his throat as to why he chose to tap dance for one of the biggest chaos demons in American political history.

Here's what he told Chris Cuomo:

“It’s more about respect for the office. It’s not about a campaign, and it’s not anything that I feel I’m influencing people to sway either way on how they feel. But, it’s more about the respect and the honor of being invited for what I like to call the greatest country on the planet,” the 3-time GRAMMY winner relayed.

After calling for Americans to put aside their differences and “come together,” which members of the MAGA cult never do, btw, Nelly had the absolute NERVE to compare the backlash he’s currently receiving to a past collaboration with Country superstar Tim McGraw, and even dragged Beyoncé into his mess by trying to equate performing for Trump to the backlash she received for dipping her well-manicured toes into the Country genre with her latest chart-topping album ‘Cowboy Carter.’

“I remember in 2004 when I first did a song with my big brother Tim McGraw, I got heat from my Hip-Hop community and even different radio stations,” he reflected. “Now, you look at people like Shaboozey and even Beyonce with ‘Cowboy Carter,’ it’s about being ahead of the curve. It’s about understanding what’s right and what’s wrong. If what’s wrong is really wrong, then the fact will tell us that. I don’t need anyone inflating the facts,” the 50-year-old said.

He concluded the brief chat by saying he hopes those who have supported him over the years continue to do so, especially as he preps for a new Peacock reality series, a six-date residency and a world tour.

What does black people doing Country music have to do with you performing for an oligarch robber baron billionaire who only cares about causing a bigger divide among the American people, while he and his rich cronies continue to invade the treasury?

At this point, just be honest about why you chose to perform for Trump, and stand firm on your decision. He keeps saying he didn't do it for the money, but I'm not buying it. Quiet as it's kept, Nelly's name hasn't been in our mouths since MTV stopped popping, so this gives you some kikd of media relevancy.

The only one I feel bad for in this situation is Ashanti, who has had to catch some strays due to your decision.
