Nelly recently celebrated his 50th birthday in Las Vegas alongside his wife Ashanti, where he teased a possible Sin City residency.

The St. Louis native (born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr.) and his wife (born Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas), 44, were asked about the possibility of a residency in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.

It seems that the couple - who tied the knot last December and welcomed their first child in July - had been in talks for a residency not long ago.

'That's funny that you say that. There were talks not too long ago about that very thing,' Nelly teased.

'I’m not gonna say too much more but hopefully everything continues the course. I love Vegas, she loves Vegas. We both love Vegas for very different reasons,' he said.

The couple would join a growing list of stars with their own residencies such as Billy Joel, Donny Osmond, Usher, Babyface, Shania Twain, Pitbull and many more.

The couple go back a few decades, as they first started dating in 2003 after meeting at the Grammy Awards.

They dated for a decade until splitting in 2013, but reconciled in 2023, quietly tying the knot just a few days after Christmas.

They welcomed their first child Kareem Kenkaide in July, as Nelly joked that, 'I've been relegated to very very small portions of our life,' before opening up about how Ashanti is as a mother.

'She's an awesome mom. To watch someone care about someone else so much and it give their all and and and is willing to give their all,' he said.

'You know like she said sometimes it could be too far but you would way prefer to have a parent that goes too far and a parent that doesn't go far enough,' he said.

'It's a laughable love in a good way because I just laugh I just choke I said look at this baby I I can't wait to show him some of the pictures in the videos like look at what your mom was doing to you. She treats him like a Build A Bear,' Nelly joked.

The interview and birthday outing comes just months after Ashanti explained the meaning of her son's name.

'Kenkaide is my dad's name, and obviously my dad has only girls,' Ashanti revealed to ET this summer.

The baby's middle name, Kareem, has Arabic origins and translates to 'generous, kind and dignified,' she told the outlet.

Ashanti said that Nelly, whose real name is Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., was the person who named their son.

'His dad named him with a lot of pride' and thought the name was 'really, really dope,' Ashanti told the outlet.
