MEET THE QUEENS: CANADA’S DRAG RACE

Writer's picture: Kris AvalonKris Avalon

Less than a week after EW gave us an exclusive inside look at the Canadian version of Drag Race, the show’s Instagram page has given us drag fans a taste of the queens who will be sashaying into the werk room and fighting for the crown (and television notoriety, nonetheless).

Hosted by RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 queen and fellow Canadian Brooke Lynn Hytes, actor Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and supermodel Stacey McKenzie (who will also serve as the show’s judges), the series will feature 12 queens with names such as Anastarzia Anaquway, Boa, Ilona Verley, Jimbo, Juice Boxx, Kiara, Kyne, Lemon, Priyanka, Rita Baga, Scarlett Bobo, and Tynomi Banks!

While some of the queens don’t have clever names such as Baga Chips, Blu Hydrangea, Courtney Act or Jujubee, I will say I’m living for some of their promo looks. I just need for them to drop a trailer soon so that I can get an idea of what to expect, because from the looks of things, it seems we’ve have ourselves a diverse cast of queens that I have yet to see on the long-running American version.

Canada’s Drag Race is set to premiere July 2nd on the Crave Network, and on WOW Presents Plus in the U.S.
