Matt Gaetz is digging into his past and making serious claims about Alan Ritchson after the Reacher star called him a “motherf***er.”

Speaking to GQ about the new season of Reacher, the actor recently slammed the politician as a "motherf---er" and called the two adversaries. Gaetz reacted in a series of posts shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying the two "were not adversaries."
"Hollywood apparently changes people!" wrote Gaetz in one post, stating that Ritchson, who was a year behind in him in high school, "was always very nice to me (and everyone)." He also claimed that Ritchson's mother, "the computer lab monitor, loved me."
In a follow-up post, Gaetz claimed, "He’s just trying to get Hollywood attention (but not just with the steroids)."
Ritchson, though born in North Dakota, grew up in Florida — but he made it clear in his conversation with GQ that he wanted no association with Gaetz, one of the state's most prominent politicians. "It's shocking to me that the panhandle of Florida continues to vote for somebody — knowing everything we know about him and the promises that he's made behind closed doors about pardoning certain criminals — he's just not a good dude!" the actor said, likely alluding to Gaetz's previous comments about how Donald Trump, the first convicted felon to serve as president, should pardon himself.
The Fast X star added, "There's part of me that wants to get into politics to outdo somebody like him for good, and there's part of me that's like, I'm not duplicitous enough to succeed in politics."
Gaetz served as the U.S. representative for Florida's 1st congressional district from 2017 until late 2024, vacating the position after the Trump administration nominated him for U.S. attorney general. But he withdrew his bid not long after amid allegations of sexual misconduct and drug use, leading to an investigation by the House Ethics Committee. The committee determined that Gaetz violated a long list of House rules and other standards of conduct, citing prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress. He has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.
