It looks like 13% of Meta employees will be joining some of the employees over at Twitter on the unemployment line, because the ever so eloquent Mark Zuckerberg, 38, pulled a Berger from Sex and The City and has laid off 11,000 employees via post-it.
I kid with the post-it, but he did lay off his employees in a shocking letter.
Here's what the letter read:
“Today I’m sharing some of the most difficult changes we’ve made in Meta’s history. I’ve decided to reduce the size of our team by about 13% and let more than 11,000 of our talented employees go. We are also taking a number of additional steps to become a leaner and more efficient company by cutting discretionary spending and extending our hiring freeze through Q1.
He continued, "I want to take accountability for these decisions and for how we got here. I know this is tough for everyone, and I’m especially sorry to those impacted. This is a sad moment, and there’s no way around that. To those who are leaving, I want to thank you again for everything you’ve put into this place."
For those affected by the fireation, there is some good news. The laid off staffers will be able to keep their health insurance for the next six months, and will also receive 16 weeks pay plus two additional weeks for every year of service.
