“It’s so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years,” the singer wrote on Twitter, along with an emoji of a pride flag and a broken heart. “Don’t give up the Fight!”
Trump has signed a flurry of executive orders in recent days targeting immigrants, transgender people, and progress on climate change among other areas. Trump also ordered a freeze on federal financial assistance on Tuesday, but a federal judge has blocked that order.
Madonna’s made little effort to hide her disdain for Trump in the past, drawing criticism back in 2017 when she said she thought about “blowing up the White House” after Trump won. Trump called the singer “disgusting.” After the election in 2024, she posted an incendiary Instagram story stating that “a convicted felon, rapist, bigot was chosen to lead our country” while also sharing a picture of a cake that said “Fuck Trump.”
“Stuffed my face with this cake last night,” she wrote at the time.
Madonna’s not the only artist who’s voiced her concern over the Trump administration’s decisions in recent days. Selena Gomez posted an emotional video on Instagram earlier this week over the deportations Trump has ordered.
“All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand,” Gomez said in the since-deleted video. “I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise.”
