“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” Season 4 winner Monet X Change is set to host “Drag Race’s” Season 17 weekly recap show, “The Pit Stop.”
X Change and a guest will review and recap each episode of “Drag Race” Season 17, which returns to MTV on Jan. 3. “The Pit Stop” will air on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” YouTube channel every Saturday.
Raven, a former “Drag Race” contestant and makeup artist to RuPaul, has been named as the premiere guest.
In a statement to Variety, X Change, who won “All Stars” Season 4 along with Trinity the Tuck, said: “I am beyond excited to be back, back, back again hosting ‘The Pit Stop.’ For far too long I’ve let the likes of Bob, Trixie and Bianca sit on my throne as the true and rightful host of ‘The Pit Stop.’ This season you can expect my exquisite wit, charm and knack for telling it like it is with a big ol’ spoonful of laughs to make the medicine go down! ‘Drag Race’ is my favorite TV show and I love talking about it. And baby…the guests this season are it! Lots of girls who have never done it before, along with some ‘Pit Stop’ faves. Fans are gunna eat it up, respectfully.”
As previously announced, the 14 queens competing on Season 17 are: Lucky Starzzz, Suzie Toot, Lydia B Collins, Kori King, Lana Ja’rae, Jewels Sparkles, Lexi Love, Hormonal Lisa, Crystal Envy, Arietty, Acacia Forgot, Joella, Onya Nerve and Sam Star.
The Emmy-winning reality phenomenon will premiere with the queens showing off their skills in the annual talent show. The contestants will also continue the “Rate-A-Queen” system introduced in Season 16, but with an unspecified “all-new twist,” per a MTV press release.
Also returning is the aftershow “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked,” which captures the queens’ conversations and catfights each week as the judges deliberate. It will air immediately following each 90-minute “Drag Race” episode.
