While the international pop icon has remained mum on the matter, word on the street is that Kylie Minogue is set to launch her first US residency in Las Vegas this fall.
According to Review Journal, the Light Years singer is set to kick off her residency at The Venetian in October.
Details are not confirmed. Venetian reps have not returned a request for comment. But Minogue’s plans reportedly are to be onstage, on the Strip, ahead of the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix in November.
A new, enhanced nightclub is reportedly being developed at the Opaline Theater space across from Summit Showroom (Opaline is the former the home of “Rock of Ages” and Blue Man Group, among others). Minogue is set to launch headlining entertainment at the venue, to be called Voltaire, in late October.
The vocalist, who broke with “The Loco-Motion” in 1988, will perform weekends at the new club.
The nightspot is said to be a heightened cabaret concept, with a capacity of 1,000. Expect refined booths, bottle service, with headline-quality production technology.
In the meantime, her 16th album Tension drops worldwide on September 22.
While I believe that her contribution to pop music has been long overdue in the US, and due to the success of Padam Padam (the song is currently sitting at #48 on Mediabase pop radio airplay chart, which makes it her first US pop radio chart in 19 years) she's finally getting some much-deserved recognition.
I'm really hoping she decides to do a few city dates before she plants roots in Vegas for her weekend residency.
