An exasperated Kyle Richards was caught on camera whining to her family that shortly after the season wrapped, RHOBH producers wanted to recommence filming after her split from Mauricio Umansky made headline news.

Richards revealed to her four daughters, Farrah, Alexia, Sophia and Portia, that she had to “go back to shoot” Season 13 of her reality show after the news of her separation from Umansky broke in July 2023.
“Because everything that happened with this — I’m going to call it a ‘scandal’ — if something goes on in our lives like this, they’re going to obviously go shoot that even though we’re wrapped,” the OG “Housewife” explained in a clip from Umansky’s Netflix show, “Buying Beverly Hills,” which premiered its second season Friday.
“Coming out of the blue, what happened and kind of just blindsiding all of us, I know was a lot, and first of all, I’m really sorry, you guys, you have to deal with that,” she said.
Farrah, 35, interrupted by telling her mom she had nothing to be sorry about.
“But I am,” Richards said. “I really am sorry about that because it’s not fair to you guys, but I’m just so used to it.”
Sophia, 24, then chimed in by saying “this time was different” and her phone was “blowing up” with everyone reaching out about the split.
“I opened Instagram, and it was everywhere, like, it felt different this time,” she said. “And it was definitely hard feeling like maybe I don’t know the whole story.”
Portia, 16, also agreed that she was “freaked out” when she first saw the news.
“I was like, ‘OK, this is weird,’ and, like, is this actually happening? Is there something we’re not in the know of?” she wondered.
Richards noted that her kids probably “automatically” assumed that she and Umansky were getting a divorce.
“Exactly,” Portia said.
Alexia, 27, then addressed the difficulties of being in the public spotlight amid their family woes.
“Unfortunately, the reality of what our life is is that we have opened up our family and our home to the public eye,” she said in a confessional before tearing up.
“We owe so much of our life and our success to the connections we have made and the experiences we’ve had, and it’s brought so much good into our life,” she continued. “But in moments like this, it’s hard.”
Alexia said many people tell her and her sisters that they “deserve” the attention surrounding their family drama because they “chose” to be on reality television.
“That’s not fair either,” she argued.
Rumors first swirled in April 2023 that Richards and Umansky’s marriage was on the rocks when the actress was spotted without her wedding ring, though she swiftly shut down the gossip at the time.
A source then confirmed their separation in July, telling People, “Kyle and Mauricio have been separated for a while now but are still living under the same roof.
“They remain amicable as they figure out what’s next for them and their family,” the insider added.
While the duo initially brushed off divorce rumors, Umansky confirmed their separation last September.
“Kyle and I are human beings, OK? We have emotions, we have feelings, we’re going through a really hard time, OK?” he told TMZ at the time. “We are currently separated, we are not talking about divorce and we’re trying to deal with this stuff internally with ourselves privately.”
Amid the news of their separation, Richards continuously sparked dating rumors with her close pal Morgan Wade after repeatedly hanging out together.
However, the Bravolebrity has repeatedly insisted they are just friends.
Meanwhile, Umansky and his “Dancing With the Stars” partner, Emma Slater, spurred romance rumors last October when they were caught holding hands, but they both denied they were dating and said they had just become good friends.
Richards and Umansky tied the knot in 1996 and welcomed Alexia, Sophia and Portia together.
The “Halloween” star shares Farrah with her ex-husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, to whom she was married from 1988 to 1992.
Kyle thought she could bamboozle Bravo by keeping her split from Mauricio a secret until the show wrapped. Then she went to People and leaked their split. Bravo found out, gave Kyle the side-eye and told her they were going to come to the house to film the scene to add a bit more fat to the steak.
The thing that irritates me about these so-called reality stars and Bravolebrities is that they think they can self-produce and outwit their employers. If you're not up to doing the job that you are paid millions to do, which is to spill ALL of your personal tea for a million-dollar check, then maybe you need to quit reality TV.
You can't have your cake and eat it when you're not the one cutting the check.
