“The highlight of my career has been my wax figure at Madame Tussauds, there’s no question about it,” Petras said in a video posted to Madame Tussauds Berlin’s website which showed her working with the wax museum’s technicians to create her waxwork figure.
Petras sat for her wax figure in Los Angeles, with the whole experience taking four hours in total, and the final version looks just like her.
Back in 2015, actress Laverne Cox became the first trans person to get a wax figure at Madame Tussauds in the 200-year history of the museum.

Cox unveiled her wax figure at Madame Tussauds San Francisco to kick off that year’s San Francisco Pride. She said: “I am so deeply honoured to have been asked to be part of the Madame Tussauds legacy. “I hope that this will be a source of inspiration for everyone who encounters it to believe that their dreams matter and are possible.”
Cox paved the way for Petras, who is German and arguably best-known for releasing the song “Unholy” with non-binary star Sam Smith. The pair won a Grammy for the song in the category of best pop duo/group performance.

Petras medically transitioned when she was 16 with international media claiming that she was the youngest person in the world to have gender reassignment surgery at the time.
She later told reporters: “I was asked if I feel like a woman now – but the truth is I have always felt like a woman – I just ended up in the wrong body.”
More recently, Petras has been leading the charge for trans visibility and spoken about how she is “extremely alarmed” by society’s treatment of trans people, amid the current political climate.
