A viral video that shows Justin Timberlake refusing to participate in a street race has had some accusing the singer of being "rude.

In the clip, the fans are seen driving down a road next to a car with tinted windows as they exclaim: 'That's Justin Timberlake, bro roll down the window!'

As the cars stop at a red light, the singer, 43, winds down his window and says: 'You want something?'

The fans says: 'Let's race, let's race' as the star continues to say: 'You want something, you want something?'

Timberlake - who pleaded guilty to one count of driving while impaired last year - finishes the chat saying: 'Get out of here you f*****g kids.'

The video was shared online with the caption: 'Why is justin timberlake so mean omfg.' It is not known when the clip was filmed.

Fans quickly took to social media to alternately claim the star had been 'provoked' or that he had been 'mean' to the driver and passengers.

One wrote: 'Idk honestly it seems like they just provoked him while he was doing his own thing. i don’t think he was necessarily mean— perhaps, irritated after being yelled at by bunch of people…

Another typed: 'i'm not a celebrity, & he has no obligation to do what i do, however, if i were famous, i'd always acknowledge my fans — it seems as though they were just excited to see him idk again that's just me.'

One follower wrote: 'Never thought I would ever defend Justin Timberlake but these people were harassing him and his actions were not mean at all.

'Like him or not, but Justin gave the appropriate response.'

Others wrote: 'they might've been slightly annoying but OVERALL it was still a mean gesture to ME

'y'all really are riding down for him omg i respect it , but i remain in the stance that it was mean & he could've kept that window up i fear

'celebrities really can’t have boundaries without being called “mean”

'They were being annoying Leave my man Justin alone

'it’s one thing if they wanted a pic or said they liked his work but they just bothered him to ask to race and record him while driving on top of that

'The people calling him mean...we don't know how long they were following him for. The fact that they knew he was in the car with tinted windows should tell you that they were probably following him. That's weird behavior.

'They are recording him and harassing him. How is he mean?'

In September 2024 Timberlake pleaded guilty to driving while impaired three months after he was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York in connection with DWI.

As part of his plea deal, the What Goes Around... Comes Around vocalist urged drivers not to get behind the wheel of a car after even a single alcoholic drink, shortly after pleading guilty.

The public safety announcement in front of the Sag Harbor Police Department on September 13 was a component of the plea deal that knocked down the misdemeanor charge he´d faced to a non-criminal traffic violation.

The boy band singer-turned-solo star and actor was also sentenced to a $500 fine with a $260 surcharge, 25 hours of community service at the nonprofit of his choosing and a 90-day suspension of his license.

'I try to hold myself to a very high standard, for myself, and this was not that,' Timberlake told the news media and other onlookers after the hearing in the adjacent Sag Harbor Village Court.

'Even if you´ve had one drink, don´t get behind the wheel of a car,' he said. 'There´s so many alternatives. Call a friend. Take an Uber. There´s many travel apps. Still, take a taxi. This is a mistake that I made, but I'm hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have.'

The NSYNC star made similar comments during the court hearing and said he grew up in a small town and appreciated the kind of strain his arrest has made on a community like Sag Harbor.

The one-time whaling village, which is mentioned in Herman Melville´s classic novel Moby-Dick, is nestled amid the Hamptons, an area of seaside communities around 100 miles east of New York City.

Timberlake was arrested there a little after midnight on June 18 after police said he ran a stop sign in the village center, veered out of his lane and got out of his BMW smelling of alcohol.

Police said Timberlake told the officer he had had one martini and was following some friends home. He originally pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.

Timberlake told the court he´s had a lot of time to reflect on his actions and was 'grateful for the opportunity to move forward' and use his platform to hopefully help others make 'better decisions.'

'I should have had better judgment,' he said to the judge. 'I understand the seriousness of this.'

The SexyBack singer and wife Jessica Biel - who 'was not happy about' the highly-publicized arrest - have 'been very busy working and just focus on family time when they're off,' the source said, as they raise their two sons Silas, nine, and Phineas, four.
