After Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds had a night out at Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special Feb. 16, where Ryan also made a subtle joke at the couple’s ongoing legal battles with Baldoni, the It Ends With Us director’s lawyer Bryan Freedman offered his thoughts on the cameo.

“I’m unaware of anybody, frankly, whose wife has been sexually harassed and has made jokes about that type of situation,” Freedman posited in a Feb. 17 interview on Hot Mics with Billy Bush. “I can’t think of anyone who’s done anything like that. So it surprised me.”

As for how Baldoni is spending his free time, Freedman maintained that his now month-long stay in Hawaii with his family is not a “vacation,” but rather the Jane The Virgin star’s attempt to “get some semblance of peace.”

E! News has reached out to Reynolds and Lively’s own team regarding Freedman’s recent comments but has not yet heard back.

Of course, Lively and Reynolds were able to claim their own sense of peace during their attendance at SNL 50: The Anniversary Special. The couple walked their first red carpet together since Lively and Baldoni filed their respective lawsuits at the New York event, with Reynolds donning a classic tuxedo, while the Gossip Girl alum wore a silver sequin gown.

During the broadcast itself, the couple even made a brief appearance during a parody question-and-answer segment led by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. After Reynolds posed that he had a question, the comedic duo asked how he was, to which the Deadpool star responded, “Great. Why? What have you heard?”

Lively, clearly cued in on the joke, feigned a surprised expression before laughing off the moment as Reynolds continued his question.

The couple’s night out came as drama continues to unfold between their and Baldoni’s respective legal teams. In December, Lively filed a civil rights complaint, claiming retaliation after she reported sexual harassment that took place on the set of It Ends With Us, before going on to file an official lawsuit later that month.

For Baldoni’s part, he has denied the claims made in Lively’s suit, filing a $400 million countersuit against Lively, Reynolds and their public relations representative. (He has also filed a defamation suit against the New York Times over its reporting of the civil complaint, which the newspaper has vowed to fight.)
