With the success of Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills, megaproducer Jason Blum has let it be known in past interviews that he would love to revive the Friday The 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street franchises over at his Blumhouse production company.
While the F13 franchise is still tangled up in some legal drama, I remember Bloody Disgusting reporting that Wes Craven's estate has been interested in hearing some pitches for a potential film.
In a recent interview with Screen Rant while promoting the upcoming horror film Black Phone, Blum revealed that should he get in bed with Freddy Krueger that he's pretty sure that he can get Robert Englund to reprise his role as the iconic dream killer.
“I could make him come back,” Blum tells Screen Rant. “I could get anyone back. I mean, Ellen Burstyn was 87, I got her back in [the upcoming sequel to] The Exorcist.”
I am a fan of the first three Elm Street films, and if Blumhouse gets the keys to the franchise, and they're able to capture the horror elements of the original, and incorporate the practical dream set sequences of Dream Warriors, count me in.
Speaking of which, I hope they find a way to bring Heather Langencamp back once they get the franchise up and running again.
I would also love to see The Duffer Brothers take on an Elm Street movie, since Stranger Things season 4 was heavily influenced by ANOES.
