Here’s Who the Viewers Want to Win RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 17

As we wait one more week to find out who RuPaul will crown the 17th winner of Drag Race, the fans are weighing on who they would like to see walk away with the crown, sceptor and $200k

At the end of episode 14, following the heartbreaking (and controversial) elimination of Suzie Toot, the final four was confirmed to be Onya Nurve, Lexi Love, Jewels Sparkles, and Sam Star.

RuPaul then passed the power over to the viewers, asking them to share their support for who they want to win the season 17 crown.

Several days later, the official RuPaul’s Drag Race social media pages posted the cast promos of each of the top four, encouraging fans to share love for their favourite queen.

The season 17 finale may still be a week away, taking place on 18 April, but already fans have outlined exactly who they want to be the top two of the season and who they want to be named the next drag superstar.

Southern pageant queen Sam Star is currently fourth in the running at the time of reporting, amassing 41,000 likes on her #TeamSamStar Instagram post, while Louisville doll Lexi Love is third, with 63,000 likes backing #TeamLexiLove.

If fans had their way then, the top two of the season would be Ohio all-rounder Onya Nurve and Florida’s fulgid favourite, Jewels Sparkles.

Onya and Jewels have jostled for the top spot over the past few days, continually taking over each other in the fight for first place.

At the time of writing though, Onya is out up front by quite some way, securing a staggering 592,000 likes on her #TeamOnyaNurve post, while Jewels’ #TeamJewelsSparkles has gained a similarly impressive 460,000 likes.

Both Onya and Jewels’ posts are thought to be the most-liked Drag Race #Team posts in the show’s history.

While some fans have wondered whether social media bots might be involved in the huge numbers, there still appears to be a strong consensus online that Onya and Jewels are the fandom’s favourite picks.

In the comment section of the #Team posts, celebrities and fellow Drag Race alum have been sounding off and sharing their support, with Brazilian drag superstar Pabllo Vittar, Olympic diver Tom Daley, and season 16’s Morphine Love Dion all seemingly declaring themselves #TeamJewels, while author Preston Mitchum and social media star Tyler Oakley are #TeamOnya.

Of course, the competition isn’t over until the supremely tall lady sings, or rather decides. But with Onya Nurve securing the season’s most impressive track record – including four wins! – and Jewels Sparkles having the season’s most satisfying arc, it’s likely there will be some fandom upset if one of them isn’t crowned.

I think it's pretty apparent that Onya and Jewels will end up our top two queens, with more than likely Onya taking the crown. Onya needs to step her performance pussy up because the last time she lipsynced against Jewels she almost ate her up on that stage.
