Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard is weighing in on his co-star Noah Schnapp, who recently came out as gay on TikTok.
Alongside a caption that read, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was, ‘we know,’” Noah lip-synched to a viral TikTok sound that says, “You know what it never was? That serious.”
For those who don't watch the show, even though Schnapp's character Will hasn't specifically identified as gay, even though the implication was there throughout the series, his character did bear his soul to Wolfhard's character Mike, whom fans pointed out that Will is in love with.
Here's what Wolfhard told GQ:
“When I saw it, I just had a big smile on my face,” he gushed, with the interviewer noting that his eyes “softened” when the subject was brought up. “I was just really proud of him.”
Even though I know the series takes place in the 80s, and queer people weren't as out, loud and proud with their sexuality as they are now, I hope the writers of the fifth and final season (which is currently filming) will give Will the representation to be that queer character LGBTQ+ fans of the show can identify with.
