We’re currently halfway through season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, and earlier this month Mama Ru and VH1 announced that RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race would be airing on Friday, April 24.
Each week, three celebrities will compete against each other and will be groomed and mentored by former ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ queens, in which they will be known as “Queen Supremes.” The winner of the challenges will win money for their charity of choice.
The list of fierce Drag Race fan favorites that will be involved with the show, are: Alyssa Edwards, Asia O’Hara, Bob the Drag Queen, Kim Chi, Monet X Change, Monique Heart, Nina West, Trinity the Tuck, Trixie Mattel, and Vanessa Vanjie Mateo.
The celebrities competing on the four-part series have been kept under wraps, but word on the street is that the performers from the world of “film, music, television, and comedy” will be participating. Also around the time the commercial aired, internet sleuths managed to uncover one celebrity that they believe will be on the show based on his tattoos. None other than gender fluid actor Nico Tortorella.
Tortorella denied competing on the show when a fan asked them during one of their Instagram live sessions, but based on their body language and facial expressions, I’ve got a gut feeling Nico is one of the contestants. This also isn’t the first time Tortrella has donned drag. Two years ago, All Stars 4 winner Trinity the Tuck sat down with the Younger star and transformed them into their sickening drag daughter – glitter beard and all.
Other celebrities that fans believe (but haven’t been confirmed to be on the show are: Andrew Garfield, Billy Porter, Gus Kenworthy, Harry Styles, Hailey Kiyoko, Leslie Jones, and Margaret Cho If women are in fact competing on Secret Celebrity Drag Race, I don’t want to hear shit about the show not including AFAB queens and trans women on future seasons of Drag Race.
I hope you’re down for three and a half hours of drag, because the four-part ‘RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race’ is all set to premiere on Friday, April 24, at 9:30 pm right after RuPaul’s Drag Race only on VH1. Untucked will be moving to 11pm.
