Synth pop icons Erasure join forces with a laundry list of drag queens for their latest video Nerves of Steel, and in this time of quarantine I love the simplicity and creativity of the video.
The video features Drag Race favorites Detox, Raja, Manila Luzo, Honey Davenport, and Widow Von Du, trans icons Candis Cayne and Amanda Lepore, and some Queens you may not have heard of (but should pay attention to), like Aurora Sexton, CT Hedden, Cara Melle, and Pandemonium.
“This is my favorite track from the album,” Erasure singer Andy Bell said. “I am truly honored that all our LGBTQIA+ friends were so creative during lock down and helped us with this joyful video. Thanks for creating such a lovely piece of art!”
One of the video’s stars, Manila Luzon, said, “‘Nerves of Steel’ evokes the butterfly feelings I remember when first falling in love and nothing else in the world mattered — pure excitement and electricity.”
Detox added, “Erasure has been an integral part of my queer soundtrack from early on and it was a tremendous honor to be included in their new work!”
I have to say I’m with Andy. Out of all the singles I’ve heard released from The Neon, Nerves of Steel is my favorite.
“Nerves of Steel” will appear on Erasure’s upcoming album, The Neon, out August 21st via Mute. Check out the video below…
