DUA LIPA WANTS TO COLLABORATE WITH KYLIE MINOGUE

Yesterday I posted an interview with Dua Lipa on Watch What Happens Live revealing that she’s recorded duets with Miley Cyrus and Normani, the latter most likely appearing on the upcoming deluxe edition of Future Nostalgia. The Don’t Start Now singer did a GQ Q&A on Twitter, and revealed which singers she would love to collaborate with in the future, and fans got particularly excited when she mentioned international pop icon Kylie Minogue.

It’s quite fitting that Dua would choose Kylie as someone who she would love to work with in the future (and I think Kylie would be down for this collaboration as well), especially since Future Nostalgia has not only charted in countries that Kylie’s music does fairly well in, but when I listened to Dua’s sophomore album sonically it gives me Fever vibes, along with Madonna’s Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Dua was smart to go in a dance/pop direction with her sophomore release, and if they want to feed off each other’s fan base (Kylie’s music getting introduced to a younger demographic, and older pop music fans getting into Dua’s music) I think business-wise these two together would be a great fit. Not only because it would work in a business sense, but their collaboration feels organic and not forced like a lot of your faves doing collaborations. I can see Kylie passing the pop baton to Dua, kind of like Madonna at the VMA’s passing down the pop music torch to Britney and Christina Aguilera while still smashing pop music records.

I loved Kylie’s collaboration with Tove Lo off Tove’s latest album, so once we’re done quarantining, let’s get these two in the studio, especially since Kylie did reveal she’s working on a “mature” dance record as the follow-up to Golden.
