It’s been a while since we’ve heard some new music from Disclosure, and now the duo have announced the release date of their long-awaited third album entitled Energy. The record, which drops on August 28, will feature appearances from Kelis, Common, slowthai, Kehlani, Channel Tres and Syd.
In the self-titled track (which you can check out below), it features a sample of the preacher Eric Thomas, whose voice was the prominent sample behind their 2013 song “When a Fire Starts to Burn.” The brothers explained in a statement that Thomas’ words in the new song inspired the title of the album. “When we found Eric many years ago, he was like a goldmine of inspirational quotes and motivational speeches,” Disclosure said in a statement.
“Even if he was speaking to a room of five, it was like he was addressing a stadium. He has an immense presence and energy about him that translates so well into music – especially house music. This time, we cut up various speeches to make something that makes sense. What he says is basically the whole concept for the record, that’s why it became the title track.”
Another interesting factor: Disclosure recorded 200 songs before narrowing it down to 11. Check out the traclist and take a listen to ENERGY below…
