Diddy’s Trial Kicks Off Same Day As Met Gala 2025 As Hip Hop Mogul Trades High Fashion For Prison Garb

It’s not like he’ll be invited anyway. But Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial date has been set for the first Monday of May, a judge ruled on Thursday — that’s of course the same day as Vogue’s famed annual Met Gala.

Combs, 54, is spending time in a much different venue — he’s been locked up at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since Sept. 17.

A judge recently denied his request for bail for a third time, and ordered him to remain in custody until his May 5 trial date.

Ironically, The Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” would have gone well with the image Combs projected for decades until his dark history landed him under investigation by Homeland Security — and behind bars in Brooklyn.

According to Vogue, the Costume Institute show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will “take the Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”

Co-chairs for the ball this year will include actor Colman Domingo, race car driver Lewis Hamilton and recording artists A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams.

NBA star LeBron James will serve as an honorary chair.

Combs appeared in court sporting tan jailhouse clothes paired with shackles at his ankles — a stark contrast from the dandy duds he wore to the Met Gala before he was facing sex trafficking charges.

The rapper was reportedly stripped of his invite last year amid his federal probe. (Combs has pleaded not guilty to the charges).

Still, the “Mo Money, Mo Problems” hitmaker appeared relaxed in the Manhattan courtroom, where his family including six of his seven children, and mother, Janice, came to support him. The family took over two rows and Combs blew a kiss to his mother as he exited the 45-minute hearing.

“I love you. I love you,” he told his mom.

Meanwhile, his mom, 84, upheld his flashy legacy, wearing a mini skirt, fishnet stockings, an animal print jacket and bedazzled sunglasses to the courthouse.

Combs is due back in court on Dec. 18.
