Denzel Washington is clarifying a recent statement he made after director Ridley Scott set the record straight on Washington’s same-sex kiss was cut from Gladiator II.

At the Los Angeles premiere of the highly anticipated Gladiator sequel, Denzel clarified his earlier comments, calling the media reaction “much ado about nothing.” Initially, he said he kissed his male scene partner, but the kiss was cut because the creative team was “chicken.”
However, Denzel softened his stance, now explaining that he only gave his scene partner a “peck” on the hand, and the situation was blown out of proportion.
Ridley Scott rejected the idea, calling Denzel’s version “bulls***.” He added,
“They never did. They acted the moment – it didn’t happen.”

An off-camera voice also assured Ridley that they “went back and looked at the film,” confirming there was never a kiss to cut.
Despite the controversy, Gladiator II is gearing up for a major release, though it’s up against stiff competition from the Wicked movie.
With both Denzel and Paul Mescal claining their same-sex kissing scenes were cut, and Ridley calling BS on one of the claims, clearly two of his actors can't be lying.
