DADDY YANKEE RETIRES FROM MUSIC, RELEASES FINAL ALBUM LEGENDADDY

I have to admit I was quite shocked to learn last week that the father of Reggaeton Daddy Yankee was retiring from music, and that his latest release, LEGENDADDY would be his final album.

He’s blessed us consistently over the years with memorable features and singles, but I had forgotten that LEGENDADDY is his first full length album in almost a decade (King Daddy was his last full length in 2013).

There are a string of emotions running through me as I write this, because I’ve been a huge fan since Barrio Fino. He has had such an influence on pop culture, and you have to give the man his flowers for ushering Reggaeton in to the American mainstream. If it weren’t for DY, we wouldn’t have artists like J Balvin, Anuel AA, Bad Bunny, El Alfa, and so many others.

I have been listening to the album everyday for the past two weeks, and while that signature DY sound is loud and clear, I loved his collaborations with Natti Natasha, Becky G, Pitbull, El Alfa, and even Lil Jon.

El Cangri has also expanded his La Ultima Vuelta Tour, adding more North American tour dates. The goodbye tour will coincide with the release of his new 19-track album “Legendaddy,” which Rolling Stone called “the sound of a Latin icon ending things on his own terms.”

Tickets to see the 30-time Billboard Latin Music Award winner are available on all major ticketing sites.
