CHRISTINA RICCI WILL STAR IN TIM BURTON’S ADDAMS FAMILY SERIES WEDNESDAY IN RECURRING ROLE

Writer: Kris AvalonKris Avalon

A few months back I had heard that Tim Burton was working on a new Netflix series titled Wednesday, which would be about an older Wednesday Addams and her years as a student at a Hogwarts-esque school called Nevermore Academy.

I wasn’t quite sold on the show until recently, when it was announced that Christina Ricci, who played the iconic Wednesday Addams in the 1992 hit film The Addams Family and it’s even campier sequel Addams Family Values has signed on in a recurring role.

Her role is being kept under wraps, but we do know that she is not playing Wednesday as an adult. Jenna Ortega (Scream 2022) is playing Wednesday, Luis Guzman is her father Gomez Addams, and Catherine Zeta-Jones is her mother Morticia Addams.

Described as a sleuthering, supernaturally infused mystery, here’s a synopsis of the upcoming series:

“Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships.”

Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Smallville, Into The Badlands) are writing and showrunning. Burton is directing.
