Charli XCX announced on Thursday that she will be releasing a brand new version of her Brat album, which is presumably a remix album, on October 11.
Charli has enlisted tourmate-to-be Troye Sivan for an update of the album track “Talk Talk.” That’s not all: A new, 16-track album add-on called Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat will follow on October 11, via Atlantic. The new disc features today’s remix, 11 more mystery tracks, and the four other remixes released this year: “360 Featuring Robyn and Yung Lean,” “Von Dutch A. G. Cook Remix Featuring Addison Rae,” “Girl, So Confusing Featuring Lorde,” and “Guess Featuring Billie Eilish.” Check out the artwork and new song, which has a cameo from Dua Lipa speaking French and Spanish, below.
The Charli XCX & Troye Sivan Present: Sweat Tour kicks off in Detroit this weekend. The “1999” and “2099” collaborators are joined by Shygirl on the dates, which take them across North America this month and next.
“Brat,” which captured the cultural (and, for a second, the political) zeitgeist with its hyperpop-influenced club bangers and slime-green aesthetic, became the album of the summer. After its June 7 release, the record earned rave reviews and was adored by fans. It also became fodder for TikTok dances and memes, which went as far as the Kamala Harris campaign adopting the elusive concept of “brat.”
As “Brat” continues into its next season, Charli XCX is also lining up other projects in Hollywood. She’s co-executive producing the score for A24’s “Mother Mary” with Jack Antonoff and producing original music for Benito Skinner’s Amazon series “Overcompensating.” Also, Charli will appear as an actor in Daniel Goldhaber’s “Faces of Death” remake and Greg Araki’s erotic thriller “I Want Your Sex.”
