Charli XCX And Sam Smith Join Forces On Dance Track In The City

Earlier this week Charli XCX took to social media to defend her friend Sam Smith over the anti-queer comments he received on social media when she announced they were releasing a song together.

Well now said song, which is titled In The City has finally arrived, and I must say it's quite the bop.

“I’m flowing through you like water / Yeah, my body’s swaying side to side / I’m focused in on the moment / All the lights are diamonds in the sky,” XCX sings on the sizzling new track.

The uptempo track was produced by ILYA, The 1975s George Daniel, AG Cook, and Omer Fedi.

In a statement released alongside the song, Charli explained that “In the City” celebrates the chaotic beauty of making friends during nights out at gay bars around the globe.

“The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places,” Charli said in a statement. “It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there.”
