After Sunday night’s shocking Eagles win over the Chiefs, Cardi took to Instagram to share her frustration with the difficulty she faced getting into the New Orleans event due to increased security. As many saw, President Trump was present for the Super Bowl, which featured Kendrick Lamar as the halftime headliner. “Yo, I was too fucking mad today because, you know, Donald Trump and shit,” Cardi stated in an Instagram clip. “He was at the Super Bowl today and they was giving us a hard time. Oh my gosh. The Secret Service was not playing at that motherfucker. The Secret Service was not playing to get in that motherfuckin’ stadium. Oh my god.”
Cardi went to explain how this resulted in her expensive heel being “fucked up.” “This shoe cost me three bands,” she asserted. “All ‘cause of Trump. Now I like him lesser. Now I like him lesser because you didn’t have to go to no damn Super Bowl. Fucking up my shoe. … Now he’s gonna have to, well, he definitely ain’t gon’ do that, bring my uncle. . . back because my uncle got deported.”
Cardi offered no additional details regarding her Super Bowl security concerns or the issue with her uncle. She also refrained from revealing the specific timing of the family member’s deportation. For clarity, President Trump has enacted several executive orders aimed at immigration since resuming office in January. Citing data from the Associated Press, the number of daily immigration arrests has surged, surpassing recent figures under Biden. NBC News reports that ICE conducted almost 1,200 arrests in just one day last month.
Cardi has previously voiced her discontent with the state of U.S. politics, particularly leading up to the 2024 election. At one point, she criticized both Trump and Biden, describing the decision as choosing “the lesser evil.” When President Biden withdrew, Kamala Harris, then vice president, became the Democratic nominee. Cardi was one of the prominent figures backing Harris, though she was ultimately defeated by Trump in the November election.
